2023 MS Alligator License Purchase Instructions

Available beginning August 1, 2023

ALLIGATOR HUNTING LICENSES

This license is required for each person in the hunting party, 16 years of age or older (including 65 YOA and older).

PREREQUISITES FOR ALLIGATOR LICENSES

You must possess a combination hunting/fishing type license to purchase

All Game Hunting/Freshwater Fishing

Does not include Archery/Primitive Weapon/Crossbow.

Apprentice Sportsman License

Description
Apprentice Hunting Licenses are available for first-time hunters who have not taken a hunter’s education if a licensed or exempt resident hunter at least twenty-one years of age accompanies the apprentice hunter when hunting. 

Apprentice Sportsman License

This license may be issued only one time to a resident and the apprentice hunting licensee must be accompanied by a licensed or exempt resident hunter at least twenty-one years of age when hunting. This license includes Spring Turkey Hunting, Archery/Primitive Weapon/Crossbow, and Freshwater Fishing. Does not include: Saltwater Fishing, State and Federal Waterfowl Stamps, or WMA User Permit.

Archery/Primitive Weapon/Crossbow Permit

Must be bought in addition to All Game Hunting or 7-Day All Game Hunting when hunting during special seasons.

Armed Forces 14-Day Hunting/Fishing

Must apply through MDWFP. (Includes Archery/Primitive Weapon/Crossbow. Does not include Saltwater Fishing.)

Fur Dealer License

A fur dealer license is required of any person regardless of age who buys furbearing animals from trappers or hunters.

MS Super Sportsman Package

Includes Sportsman License, Saltwater WMA User Permit, State Waterfowl Stamp, HIP, and 1-Year Magazine Subscription.

Saltwater Fishing
Senior Lifetime Saltwater License

Age 65 and over.

Spring Turkey Permit

Required for hunting turkey during spring turkey season. This license must be purchased in addition to All Game, 7-Day All Game, or 3-Day All Game Hunting License.

WMA User Permits
  1. In addition to any required license, all users must carry on their person an Annual, Individual, or Family Wildlife Management Area User Permit, while using any Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Wildlife Management Area that is operated on property not owned by the U.S. Forest Service. Users exempt from purchasing a hunting or fishing license (Miss. Code Ann. §§49-7-5 and 49-7-9) are exempt from purchasing the WMA User Permits and Camping Permits.
  2. For Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Wildlife Management Areas operated on property owned by the U.S. Forest Service, all users participating in hunting, fishing, or trapping activities, must carry on their person an annual Wildlife Management Area User Permit in addition to any required license. Exemptions stated above will also apply.
  3. Exemptions for educational purposes may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director
  4. Wildlife Management Area User Permits:
    1. Resident Annual WMA User Permit - $15.00
    2. Non-Resident Annual WMA User Permit - $30.00
