Loblolly pines and stately magnolia trees, rolling hills, spectacular seasonal flowers, and a year-round mild climate await visitors to Percy Quin State Park. One of the original state parks cleared and constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. Percy Quin is today a delightful blend of the old an new. Located just one and a half hours from New Orleasn, Percy Quin State Park provides a colorful natural backdrop for a variety of outdoor activities.

Things To Do

A variety of activities and facilities are available at Percy Quin State Park. Facilities for use include: picnic tables and grills, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, swimming pool, tennis courts, game room, laundry facility, conference center, chapel, marina, and an 18 hole golf course. Boating is available on Lake Tangipahoa.

The picnic area has open areas for field play and wooded areas for shade. Individual picnic tables with barbecue grills are available for use on a first come first serve basis. Comfort stations are located in the area. In addition, four picnic pavilions with tables are available for rental.

Picnic Pavilion #1 is a large brick pavilion set on a hill overlooking Lake Tangipahoa. The pavilion was constructed during the CCC era and contains a fireplace, barbecue pit, food prep area, service counter, picnic tables, and restrooms.

Picnic Pavilion #2, and #3 are wooden structures with water and electricity available. Pavilions #2 and #3 are located in the playground area.

Pavilion #4 is a wood structure with electricity but no water. Pavilion #4 is located across from the Visitor's Center.

Picnic Pavilion Rental
Rental provides for use of the pavilion from 8:00 AM to dark. Reservations are recommended.

Playground

A playground with a slide and climbing structures is located near one of the comfort stations.

Swimming Pool

A junior olympic-size pool is located across from Pavilion One. The pool house has concessions, restrooms, and shower facilities. The pool is operated seasonally Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. No lifeguards are on duty.  Swim at your own risk.

There is a nominal fee charged for Children ages 3 - 12 and Adults 13 years of age and older.  Arm bands are required.  Children 16 years and under must be accompanied by parent or adult guardian.

There are five lighted tennis courts available for play.

Visitor/Activity Building
Visitor Center

The visitor center is a historic structure that houses the welcome desk and park office. The facility contains a game room and a meeting room. The game room features a pool table and coin operated games. An outdoor patio area overlooks Lake Tangipahoa. The visitor center is open 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Register at the welcome desk when checking-in to park facilities.

Convention Center

Overlooking Lake Tangipahoa the convention center is a modern facility that can accommodate 200 people with tables and chairs. The facility includes a 2,800 square foot convention/banquet room, and 740 square foot meeting room. The convention/banquet room can be divided into two rooms. The meeting room features a fireplace and piano. catering services are available. A portico with views of the lake connects the convention center and the visitor's center. Chapel

Wayside Chapel is a favorite wedding location. Contact the park office for more information. Non-denominational worship services are held at the chapel during the summer months.

Water Activities

Lake Tangipahoa is a 490 acre fresh water lake. The lake features a marina, boat launch, and water skiing. A restroom and fish cleaning station is located near the boat launch. In 2014, the lake was stocked with Florida Bass, Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, and White Crappie.

Water Skiing

Water and jet skiing is permitted in Lake Tangipahoa.

Boat Launch

A boat launch is available on Lake Tangiopahoa for a nominal fee. Daily or annual permits are available. A comfort station and fish cleaning station is located near the boat launch and marina.

Marina

A covered marina with 36 boat slips is located near the boat launch. The marina is lighted with electrical hook-ups available at slips. Boat slips are available for monthly or yearly rental.

Golf

A Premier Golf Experience is located at beautiful Percy Quin State Park. Quail Hollow is 6,700 yards of championship golf that never plays the same way twice. With rolling terrain, a variety of signature holes, and undulating greens, Quail Hollow offers the ultimate challenge for golfers of every skill level.

The course utilizes natural terrain to create spectacular holes in harmony with the beautiful Southern Mississippi countryside. The 18-hole Championship Course at Quail Hollow Golf Course in McComb, MS is a public golf course that opened in 1996. Designed by Arthur Hills, Championship Course at Quail Hollow Golf Course measures 6754 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 121 and a 72 USGA rating. Greens are mini-verde ultradwarf and fairways are 419 tifdwarf grass.

Area Attractions

The following area attractions are located within a short drive of Percy Quin State Park. The park staff will be happy to provide directions.

Park Events

Camp Sunshine is held the second of July. Camp Sunshine takes place at the group camp where physically and mentally challenged park guests enjoy fishing, swimming, games, talent show, special olympics, animal zoo, horse rides, and boat rides. Camp Sunshine is sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of McComb along with numerous other businesses in the McComb area. 

MS Tour for Cure MS Tour for Cure is a two day, 150 mile bicycle ride beginning in Hammond, LA to Percy Quin State Park and back again. The event raises funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. For more information please contact  MS TOUR FOR CURE.

Halloween at Percy Quin is for registered campers only. Halloween activities are held in the campground with trick or treat fun and a hay ride. Event is scheduled the Saturday before Halloween or on Halloween, if it occurs on a Saturday.

Stay The Night

There are several options available when it comes to staying overnight. The park offers 100 RV campsites, 27 cabins, 4 cottages, 2 golf villas, 9 motel rooms, and a group camp facility. These facilities are located in wooded areas with views of Lake Tangipahoa.

General Information
  • Cabins, Motel, Cottages, and Villa are equipped with basic eating and cooking utensils, linens and towel bath cloths.
  • Check-in is 3:00 p.m. Check-out is 11:00 a.m.
  • Must be 21 years of age to make a reservation
  • Minimum length of stay from May 15th through August 15th is 3 nights on the weekends, holidays and special events and a 2 night minimum during the week (weekend is a Friday and Saturday night stay).
  • Minimum length of stay from August 16th through May 14th is 3 nights on the holidays and special events, 2 nights on the weekends and a 2 night minimum during the week. (Weekend is a
    Friday and Saturday night stay.)
  • A 3 night minimum is required for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
  • A 2 night minimum is required for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Easter.
  • Pets are not allowed in lodging facilities or on the grounds of lodging facilities.
  • Smoking is not allowed in any Mississippi government buildings.
Developed Camping

One-hundred campsites are available for RV camping and feature picnic tables and grills. All campsites are full hook-up with electricity, water, and sewer. Twenty campsites are lakefront and are considered premium sites. The campground is located in a wooded area overlooking Lake Tangipahoa. Campground roads and campsites are paved. 

Primitive Camping

Primitive campsites are located in a wooded area with direct access to Lake Tangipahoa. These campsites are available for tent camping. Water and restrooms are available nearby.

Sites 1-22 feature a fire ring, barbecue grill, picnic table, and permanent lantern post. There are many other sites available with no amenities.

Primitive campsites are available on a first come, first serve basis. 

Bathhouses

Four bathhouses with hot showers are conveniently located throughout the campground area. Laundry facility is available.

Vacation Cabins

NOTICE: Not all cabins have grills. Inquire at the park office.

Percy Quin features 27 cabins which are furnished with bed and bath linens and basic kitchen equipment. All cabins provide a view of Lake Tangipahoa, and are air-conditioned and heated, have private porches, and many have a fireplace. Outdoors, a picnic table and grill are provided. Reservations can be made by calling the park at (601) 684-3938 or by our online reservation system.

Vacation Cottages

Four lakefront cottages are available for rental. The cottages feature a den with dining and kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. Three cottages have two bedrooms and sleep four. One cottage has three bedrooms and sleeps six. Cottages are furnished with central heat and air conditioning, bed and bath linens, a refrigerator, stove, and coffee pot.  Outdoors, a picnic table and grill are provided. Motels

Percy Quin offers a nine room motel located near the convention center with views of Lake Tangipahoa. Each motel room is furnished with bed and bath linens, a television, and a kitchenette with basic kitchen equipment. Villas

The park offers two golf villas that provide views of Quail Hollow Golf Course. The golf villas feature a great/dining room, kitchen, four bedrooms, and private porch. Each golf villa can sleep up to 12 people. For reservations of golf villas call (601) 432-2219. Online reservation of golf villas is not available.

Group Camp
Group Camp Facility

Located across the lake from the main park facilities, the Percy Quin Group Camp offers housing and meal service for groups numbering 40 to 212. Housing is provided by an air conditioned dormitory that sleeps 100 and eight air conditioned huts that sleep 14 each. Campers should bring pillows, towels, soap, linens, and other personal items. No smoking is allowed in any Mississippi government buildings.

Reservations

Group camp facilities are available by reservations only and are not available to groups not wishing food services. Reservations can be made by contacting the park at (601) 684-3938.

Group Camp Minimum Requirements:

  • 40 guests, 6 meals, 2 night stay during the peak season (Memorial Day through Labor Day)
  • 40 guests, 3 meals, 1 night stay during the off-season (Labor Day to Memorial Day Weekend).

Recreational facilities include two regulation ball fields and an open air pavilion.
