Directions To The Calling Panther

Calling Panther Lake is located near Crystal Springs. From Hwy 51 in Crystal Springs, travel west on West Georgetown St. Continue onto Utica Rd. for approx.. 0.8 miles. Take a left onto New Zion Rd and travel approx. 5.2 miles. Take a left on Gaddy Ln and travel approx. 1.8 miles, then turn left onto the lake access road. The lake office will be on the right. Calling Panther Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is in Copiah County, approximately 6 miles west of Crystal Springs, Mississippi. Surrounding Calling Panther Lake, the WMA consists of approximately 1,094 acres of mature pine, hardwood, and mixed pine/hardwood forests.

Recreational opportunities include fishing, camping, hunting, and hiking. The boat ramp and fishing piers are located near the lake office. There are 23 full hook-up camping pads available for campers. A nature trail, approximately 0.9 miles in length, is available for hiking. Deer and turkey hunting will be allowed only through a permit drawing. Deer hunting will be archery only and hunters will be able to harvest both legal bucks and does. Legal bucks must have an inside spread of at least 12 inches or one main beam length of at least 15 inches. Turkey hunting will be open only to youth hunters aged 15 and younger. Youth hunters must be accompanied by a licensed adult aged 21 years or older. Squirrel hunting will be allowed during February only with shotguns.
