BassBass fishing is picking up, and reports of fish on beds are coming in. The water temp in the coves is a few degrees warmer, and fish are actively spawning in those areas. Beating the banks with jerk baits, shaky head finesse worms, swim baitt, or jigs are good bait choices.
CrappieCrappie fishing has been slow lately, but should be picking up as the fish begin to stage off shore in preparation for spawning. Vertical jigging around deep cover has been productive.
BreamA few bream are being caught, but the bite is still slow. Tight lining red worms around cover and along primary drop=offs will be the best technique to use.
CatfishThe catfish bite will be much like the bream bite for the next few weeks. Try tight lining worms around the piers. The deeper shoreline cover should hold a fish or two as well.

In January of 2022, MDWFP personnel sank donated Christmas trees in Lake Monroe. The brush piles are a good way to upcycle leftover Christmas trees and create fishing hot spots.
